Testimonia Fidei is an independent Catholic nonprofit organization. We have no affiliation with the Holy See, the Vatican Dicastery for the Causes of Saints, the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops, or any diocesan authority. Nothing in our materials should be read as an official declaration of martyrdom, beatification, or sainthood. The canonical process for recognizing martyrs belongs solely to the Church, and we operate entirely outside of and subordinate to that process.
The names we publish are gathered from local priests, bishops, diocesan officials, family members, and community witnesses in regions where Christians face active persecution. Where possible, accounts are cross-referenced against authoritative Catholic institutional sources including Fides, Aid to the Church in Need, Catholic News Agency, and Vatican News. Our verification is conducted in good faith but is necessarily limited. In conflict zones — including parts of sub-Saharan Africa, the Middle East, and South and Southeast Asia — diocesan records may be incomplete, witnesses may be at risk, and full documentation is often impossible to obtain safely. We make reasonable efforts to confirm that those named died because of their faith, but we cannot guarantee the accuracy of every account. Many of those we document qualify as martyrs in the popular and theological sense, even where no formal canonical cause has been initiated. Where appropriate, we aim to cooperate with diocesan and Vatican authorities, and hope that the names we document may one day serve as a resource for formal causes.
We present these names as an act of memory and intercessory prayer, not as a juridical or historical determination. We ask the faithful to hold them in prayer and entrust each soul to the mercy of God, who alone knows the heart.
